If there was one way to describe Stella De Brito, it would be a dreamer. Often with her head in the clouds, Stella spent a good portion of her childhood dreaming her life away. It was how she got through her childhood. She dreamed of the perfect family; a doting mother, a loving father, a protective older brother and even the ever loyal dog. They lived in a large victorian style home that while weather beaten thanks to the lack of upkeep, was still majestic in its own way. They'd have family dinners every night and spend lazy afternoons on the porch swings while waiting for dinner to be made. It was the type of existence that only seemed possible in storybooks but in Stella's mind, it was real.

But it wasn't. Stella's real life was nothing like her dream life, save for the doting mother and the weather beaten victorian style home. Stella's mother, Amara, loved her daughter more than life itself. She had a special connection with the girl because it seemed that while Stella grew, Amara also grew. Rightfully so, considering that Amara was only seventeen when she realized she was pregnant with her first and only child. Upsate New York by two very religious parents, Amara knew the moment she found out she was pregnant, she had to get away. Her father was the head minister at the local church and news of his daughter being with child would break his heart and cause his church congregation to shun them. Not wanting to be a burden on either of her parents, Amara waited till late one evening then packed her car and took off. Her destination was unknown, all that mattered was that the farther she got away from home, the better.

She drove through the night. Making only a few stops to use the bathroom and put gas in the car. It was somewhere around mid morning the next day when she drove into the small town of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The people had been friendly enough when she went in to have a little breakfast and one of the waitresses in particular had been touched by young Stella's difficult decison to leave her family and have her baby. The woman took the younger girl and her unborn daughter in and gave them a place to stay. The months that Amara spent with her new friend, Anabel, were some of the happiest times she ever encountered. Anabel made sure that Stella was well taken care of and saw to it that she got the best medical care when it came to her little one.

Stella was born in May and Anabel passed away only weeks afterward. Because Anabel had no other family (all had passed on years before), Amara was able to lease the old house with option to buy from the local government. Stella grew up reading every book that Anabel had kept in her home. The amount was countless considering she had kept an entire room as a library of sorts. She thoroughly enjoyed fiction and her mother encouraged her to harness all her creative energy into writing. While Stella went to school, her mother took a job as a front desk worker at one of the small inns in the area. She supported her daughter all the way through school with that job.

Stella stayed close to home for school because she didn't want to abandon her mother. The woman had given up so much for her, she felt it only right to give back the same amount. She graduated from college with her degree in English and the desire to write spectacular romance novels. Her only problem? The lack of inspiration. Stella never found herself having the best luck with men, something her mother jokingly called the "De Brito women curse. Amazingly enough, even with all her bad luck, Stella was offered the job of local love advice columnist for the newspaper. It wasn't ideal but it gave her plenty of time to work on her novel.

Now at 25, Stella has gotten no closer to completing her romance novel. Instead, all she has to show for it arae dozens of bad dates with guys vying for the title of 'knight in shining armor' in the book. Instead, she gets her hands on every other romance novel she can, getting lost in the characters and hoping that in some way they'll inspire her to continue writing and finish her romance novel and not give up on love just because it has yet to inspire her.

I'm not gonna write you a love song, 'cause you tell me it's make or break in this. If you're on your way, I'm not gonna write you to stay. If your heart is nowhere in it I don't want it for a minute. Babe, I'll walk the seven seas when I believe that there's a reason to write you a love song today )
